Protoboards
Product Description
Finished prototyping your project and ready to make it permanent? Looking for something more familiar to use then those individually unconnected pad holes of a regular perf board? Enter the protoboard. Not only do they look amazing, they're high quality to boot.
Measuring at just 53.34mm[L] x 22.86mm[W] x 1.6mm[H] the Eighth is sure to fit into just about any of your smaller project cases and is ready to provide a solid base for your latest build. Don't forget to secure your project with it's four 3mm (M3) mounting holes.
To ease transitioning your projects from breadboard to your new protoboard, the proto's layout mimics the same wiring as a breadboard. This means that the holes in each numbered column are electrically connected to all the other holes in that column, and that column only. The holes A-E in column 0 are connected to each other but not to the other columns, column 1's holes are connected to each other but not to the other columns, and so on. Since we retain the breadboards internal wiring layout, your schematic wont require a single change to move to the new protoboard. Along with having access to your standard positive and negative power rails on each end of the board and you're set to make your project shine.
With so many protoboards on hand you may forget which ones are internally connected like a breadboard and which ones aren't. With our protoboards you'll never have that issue. Our protoboards show you how all their pads and holes are connected on their front side. If you look at the silkscreen on your protoboard you'll notice that each pads hole is connected to each other hole in the same column by the black silkscreen printed on the board, that is showing you the boards internal connections. So you'll never need to worry if you have the right board as you can tell just by looking at it.
Boards are additionally marked with this small chain-linked bread icon to indicate internal wiring is linked like a bread board. Pretty good right? Almost a dad joke even. Older boards may just contain the image of the linked chain alone.
We've also added additional features on The Eighth. We've added 1 additional solderable jumper on each side of the board. One jumper is marked with VCC and the other is marked with GND. By bridging either of these pads with solder you'll effectively have just connected either your power or ground rails on each side of the protoboard together. Meaning you'd be able to connect power to one of your VCC rails and draw power from the other side, same goes for your Ground Rail.
